Cause Description:
We are a volunteer organization taking care of the abandoned animals of Bertie county! Volunteers workers & donations allow us to maintain our own NO-KILL shelter for cats. We also work with Bertie County Animal Control and the dogs at their canine (KILL) Shelter. (We have no control over County policy.) One of our main projects is placing animals for adoption or fostering. We often have only days to photograph, advertise and place a dog before it is euthanized (every THURSDAY at noon). If you see a dog that interests you -- PLEASE CALL OR POST IMMEDIATELY. We can influence a dog's short-term survival if there is even a CHANCE of adoption! Our Animal Control Officer is very helpful when he can be. Our constraint is that we only have 10 runs for adult dogs. Some of these runs are often occupied by dogs involved in lengthy court cases (over 7 months in the case of two dogs!) So, space is at a premium at the KILL shelter and we have to work fast - so CALL EARLY. Thanks to all who adopt!
