Cause Description:
We Are Stronger Than was founded in 2017 at the height of Hurricane Maria by a retired high school teacher and a retired U.S. Army veteran, who was stranded in Puerto Rico without communication during the storm. The other three founders were stateside, communicating and coordinating survivor phone lists and supply shipments via the internet. A couple of days into not knowing the fate of the island, Founder and President Myriam Lorenzo Lorenzo had a vision: a red hurricane with a blue center, and a star in the middle. A feeling of hope washed over her. It was time to act. It was time to organize.
