Cause Description:
Transylvania Christian Ministry, Inc. serves low income families by helping with emergency financial assistance, food from a food pantry and clothing from a closet. Additionally, TCM makes small no interest loans to people who cannot obtain a bank loan. These loans are for purposes beyond emergency needs. TCM also operates a program which matches small church teams with a welfare family as a means of providing mentoring and support as that welfare parent moves from welfare to work. The other major program is an annual Christmas program which facilitates people with means to provide presents and food during the holiday season. TCM is an outreach of 40 area churches. TCM is governed by a 22 member Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director and two other full time and one part time paid staff. The work of TCM is carried out by over 100 volunteers.
