Mariposa Women's Center is a nonprofit agency founded in 1977 and funded in part by the Orange County Alcohol Program, as well as private donations. The primary objective of Mariposa is to provide a support and resource center for women whose lives are touched by the disease of alcoholism, whether it is their individual problem or that of a family member or loved one. In an atmosphere of acceptance and nurturing, women are professionally evaluated and provided a program of individual and group counseling. Mariposa's programs emphasize education, prevention and focus on women's unique problems. Mariposa expanded its program in 1990 to offer family, individual, couples, and adolescent counseling to the community at reasonable sliding scale fees. The Mariposa Family program is dedicated to promoting and improving the health and well-being of Orange County's most valuable natural resource--our families.
