Cause Description:
India Friends Association (IFA) is an organization dedicated to the upliftment of underprivilaged segments of Indian society. We are a charitable organization, however, our desire is not to simply give people material goods - but to assist them in such a way that they are able to provide for themselves. Thus, our role becomes that of a catalyst in developmental activities that are focused on the most underprivileged segments of the Indian society. So far, these have included projects promoting basic education, livelihood development and similar community building activities. We have structured our group to be small, community based, democratic and totally voluntary. There is no overhead. In short, ours is an effort to change things from the ground up, an effort to light some fires that may, one day, turn in to a movement of progress. A tall order indeed! But then, what do we have to lose! Come and join us in this effort.
