Ballinglen : USA/Ireland supports the work of The Ballinglen Arts Foundation which is an Irish non-profit organization located in the village of Ballycastle on the sea coast of North County Mayo in the Republic of Ireland. Ballinglen : USA/Ireland is a 501c registered charity in the United States. Its programmes are designed to support serious artists making important work in ideal, inspiring conditions. It offers an application process for artists from all over the world to apply for a residency in ideal working and living conditions in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Each artist in turn leaves a piece of work which becomes part of Ballinglens Permanent Collection. This now holds over 650 works of Contemporary Art. The Ballinglen Museum of Contemporary Art is currently under construction and plans are to open it in September 2019. This Museum will house and showcase the collection and will provide touring exhibitions. In addition, Ballinglen interacts with the general public through art exhibitions, school classes, print making classes, artists' studio visits, gallery tours and the use of the art library.
