Cause Description:
The mission of Active Duty Angel is to honor and preserve the legacy of SSG Gary Lee Woods Jr who was KIA 10 April 2009 in Mosul Iraq. He had a heart of gold and was always helping his soldiers in any way they needed. We hope to keep SSG Woods good deeds active for years to come. This will be done by raising money to issue 2 scholarships every year to students who participate in JROTC while in high school. We hope to work with schools to teach the students the importance of remembering our fallen and their sacrifices. Our secondary mission is to continue the giving, helpful ways of SSG Woods by helping his brothers in arms. His “little fixer upper” will be rented to either an active military member or veteran. This home is in Fountain Colorado. Part of the rent will go straight to the foundation keeping only enough to pay the taxes and insurance and to build a nest for future maintenance. We also plan to help other veterans and active duty that fall on hard times and need a helping hand.
