Cause Description:
A-HOME was founded in 1985 to provide affordable housing to older adults, and to help residents remain in their community as they aged and their incomes declined. Since that time A-HOME has expanded to include additional housing programs for persons with a disability and single parent families. Previous housing includes being homeless, living in substandard housing or on the verge of losing a home at the time of applying for housing at A-HOME. A-HOME’s long term supportive housing is much more that a roof over resident's heads. Housing provides a base solution. Long term supportive housing with case management provides an opportunity for those who have difficulty living on their own (and insufficient income) and who may fall back into homelessness without extra support; and provides time for individuals to gain the skills and confidence necessary to move forward with their lives.
