The Noel Pointer School of Music (NPSM) was established in 1998 to provide children in disadvantaged neighborhoods to learn to play string instruments as a means of preserving and extending Noel Pointer's rich legacy of musical brilliance, community service and spiriutual renewal. The NPSM activities consist of the enhancement of students academic ability in reading, math, and problem solving by introduing music-based notation, terminology, vocabulary, history, and conceptulization. This is done by motivating students to higher levels of accomplishments, both musically and academically by offering a string music program that enhances the ability to focus on a task.
