Cause Description:
Fogo Fund is an apolitical non-profit charitable organization dedicated to bettering the lives of the people of Fogo, Cape Verde. Our Non-Profit Tax ID # is 47-2433584. At the moment, we are focused on helping the displaced villagers of Cha – who have lost their homes, schools, and businesses due to the volcanic eruptions in November and December 2014. Our fundraising efforts will go towards the community health and wellbeing throughout the island of Fogo, as we will be working to improve the infrastructure and reconstruction of the community. We will team with two organizations to ensure that disaster relief is carried out in a professional and efficient process. First, we will team with the Assosiacao de Viticultores de Cha, a highly regarded and credible farming cooperative where the farmers work together and divide profits evenly amongst all families. This cooperative is well-grounded in the community, and the farmers will make sure that every family affected by the volcano receives the funds evenly. We will also contribute to the Red Cross/Red Crescent Organizations to provide humanitarian aid and relief to all displaced residents of Cha das Caldeiras.
