Solon, Ohio

Cause Description:
Raised in the Cleveland suburbs of Warrensville, Ohio a young Ricky Smith possessed a need to excite the world with his off-kilter wit and eagerness to help the needy any way he could. While attending the prestigious all-boys, University School, Ricky had his first taste of influencing others with his position as his school’s student government President. During his presidency, the Cleveland native cracked down on the lax dress code and helped develop a more strict code because the then 18 year old Ricky wanted to return to his stomping ground and be able to say “I changed that!” Success seemed to always be on the forefront of his mind because with a platform and money, that would afford him the ability to further his desire to help people fulltime. Comedy was his entry ticket. The youngest of 3, Ricky attended Morehouse College as an Inroads participant landing him a job with Kraft Foods further developing his love for food and its immediate gratification. Although Ricky could always see himself working as a chef due to his desire to create, pair, and own food trucks driving around the world providing good eats, Ricky needed more. At the ripe age of 8 years old, Ricky studied the art of comedy and wrote his own material that he would never perform out of respect for those comedians he truly admired. A writer on Cartoon Network’s Black Dynamite, an American animated series based on the 2009 film of the same name, Ricky Smith realized at a young age that comedy could be his thing! Simple rants and witty tweets led to his discovery on Twitter catching the eye of a major Comedy Central executive. Helping people has continued to be a passion for Ricky over the years. Through his routine charitable actions, Ricky possessed a sense of randomness. From giving random umbrellas on a rainy day to offering prime time sporting tickets to absolute strangers, Ricky wanted to create experiences for people while giving back. His consistent random giving attracted the attention of local Clevelanders and in a short time Ricky knew his actions needed to be a model to inspire others to want to perform “Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere”. R.A.K.E. was then born. Ricky’s key to randomness is that people miss out on the randomness of life. By including the giving aspect not only did Ricky want to create experiences but he wanted to show that giving goes along way. With the great success of Black Dynamite and his charity fund R.A.K.E., this promising bachelor resides lives between Los Angeles and his hometown Cleveland where he has coached t-ball, basketball and football to the youth and enjoys being around his family on his down-time. Ricky continues his journey with “Random Acts Of Kindness Everywhere” as a man with just a cellphone and ID, Ricky Smith encourages the world to do the same!
