Cause Description:
I am an experienced innovator in the study, evaluation, functional assessment, and multidisciplinary intervention of chronic illness, injury and pain. Progressively, over 12+ years, I have ironically become severely disabled by one of the disorders for which I was for 27 years, a pioneer and advocate. I need personal assistance to live. I do not qualify for any social services to pay for that assistance. I have used my skills as a problem solver, innovator and instigator for healthcare delivery reform, a marketer and entrepreneur, in order to devise a potential means for financing on a sustainable basis, my need for a personal assistant. My plan would be reproducible and potentially scalable to reach much higher goals than this basic need. In the process, it would be a great means for employing and investing in persons who are currently unemployed, under-employed, aging but unable to retire, and disabled. I would execute my plan immediately, but I have invested all that I have and all that my immediate family can give, in the process of both needing help and in studying the solution to my own dwindling resources. Furthermore, in order to proceed, I have some assistive technology needs and am in terrible need of a new mattress. My current mattress causes considerable pain and disruptive sleep. It has been so bad, for so long that I now dread lying down in it.
