Academy of Math & Science Phoenix

Tucson, Arizona

Cause Description:
We are a group of three highly performing charter schools, currently providing 910 students in at-risk neighborhoods, a college-preparatory education. Approximately 80% of the Academies’ students are minorities and 72% qualify for or receive free or reduced lunch. Our founder, Tatyana Chayka, started the schools in 2000 as a response to the lack of school quality and choice in low-income areas in Arizona. The founders of the school have published education research, journal articles, and have presented in several conferences including the Arizona Charter Association’s and National Charter Alliance’s annual conferences.
