Cause Description:
Near West Side CDC is a not-for profit organization that conduts affordable housing and commercial development in the West Haven community on Chicago's Near West Side. Current projects include managing an affordable rental building; constructing 20 new, owner-occupied affordable homes; providing funding for home repairs for seniors, the disabled, and low-income residents; and building a Walgreens-anchored retail mall at Madison and Western. Near West is also a community advocacy agency. We are working with residents of the Henry Horner public housing development to garner support for a resident rent-to-own program. We are also working with the Police, the Mayor's Office, and other community groups to develop a pilot security program for the neighborhood.
