Special Kids, Incorporated (SKI) is a longstanding, community-based and parent-run organization. SKI empowering parents and caregivers of children with disabilities the Houston and surrounding areas in Texas since 1989. SKI knows from its years of work in these communities that there is a surmounting need to obtain education about disabilities, the laws of special education programs, and the resources available to them in their community. These families represent dissimilar ethnicity, economic, and education backgrounds and have varying special needs. However, they are united in the fact that they have been traditionally under served and underrepresented in service delivery, access to information, and support to participate cooperatively and effectively with schools, services providers, and community. SKI is committed to helping parents and caregiver get access to information, resources, and supports needed to allow their child with disability live life to its fullest potential.
