Our group whispers from heaven was started this year when I noticed a need for a support group for miscarriage/infant loss I have known so many friends and family who have lost a baby to miscarriage or infant loss including myself I decided it was time to raise some awareness too many families grieve in silence sometime never coming to terms with their loss our goal is to help spread the awareness to help people heal and be aware of miscarriage and infant loss to let everyone know they are not alone in this one out of every four women will experience the loss of a baby whether it be miscarriage or infant loss , it is an issue that is very common but very rarely ever talked about it is such a hush hush and taboo topic those who experience it are often left to grieve alone I plan on changing that I want people to know that they are not alone it is time to open up the conversation and get the dialogue moving its time for survivors and yes I said survivors because that is what we are it is time we come together it is time we raise our voices and reach out to the others that are out there who think they are alone one of the first ways to break the silence is to get the facts out. The truth is 25-50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage , stillbirths occur in 1 out of every 160 pregnancies about 60 stillborn babies a day each year in the us alone about 20,000 babies die in the first month of their life many after being born prematurely sids is the leading cause of death among infants ages 1 month to 1 year, baby loss does not discriminate often its young healthy women who experience the loss of a baby you will see all kinds of faces and all kinds of races that baby loss can effect it can strike anyone almost 100 % of miscarriages could not have been prevented. In the year 2000 1,003,000 of the 6,401,000 pregnancies in the united states ended in miscarriage or still birth the cdc also says that in 2003 of the 4,093,000 off live births 27,500 ended in the death of an infant under the age of one. Just remember the more we speak about it and bring awareness the more we are able to help others through this trial in their lives losing a baby is very devastating whether it be a miscarriage or infant loss but someday the pain will ease you will always love your baby and never forget them just remember you are not alone
