Cause Description:
Igniting a wildfire of ovarian cancer awareness across the country has become the mission of Debbie Mills, who's only child died at age 30, on Valentines Day of 2007 after a short intense battle with oc. "To make a a difference we have to examine how we look at ourselves as it relates to cancer in general," Debbie says. Early detection is vital for survival, Debbie hopes to get information (signs and symptoms) about the illness to as many people as possible. Education is paramount to defeating this disease. Part of her effort includes organizing a relay team to participate in the ACS Relay for Life, "Gail's Anatomy". Over the past 3-years the team has raised over 23,000 dollars to benefit ACS initiatives. OCA4L holds many community sponsored events and takes part in as many as Debbie can get involved with to promote and make people aware of ovarian cancer. Our mission is to educate as many women, and men too, that we can about oc and how to recognize it.
