The ARC was established in 1955 as the Adult Retardate Center (name has been changed to Adult Resources Center due to the further understanding of developmentally disabled adults) to provide residential habilitative services and recreational opportunities to developmentally disabled adults and senior citizens; to improve the quality of life of these individual's capacity for independence; to provide opportunity for their continued growth; to advocate for their needs and to educate significant others and the community at large, thus stimulating awareness of the needs and concerns of this population
