Cause Description:
Brooke is a very brave 17 year old who has been battling osteosarcoma (a bone cancer) for the last few years. She has been very brave through all her treatments. Last week they were going to amputate the lower part of her body in a last effort to save her life. The doctor decided against the procedure and has told her family that Brooke odds are not good this year. Brooke remains brave and has made a few requests of things she hopes to do, and at the top of the list is a trip to the beach in FL with her siblings, parents and grandparents. There are 8 family members. She has never seen the beach and wants to walk and play in the sand. Her family has said that we should not get her hopes up since that is an impossible dream. Nothing's impossible right? Let's do what we can to help make this happen for this girl. We are hoping that we can maybe get a couple of the days on the beach as well if we can find a hotel that is willing to help or if someone has a timeshare or rental unit on the beach that would be wonderful. We are also hoping to help them have a day at Busch Gardens while they are here - so maybe if you know of anyone who has connections over there -- perhaps they might be willing to give us free or discounted tickets for the family. We've got some people working on the passenger van to get them here from Kentucky - and we're looking at the last week in April or first week of May for their visit. Hospice has offered to connect us with their incredible network for the duration of her stay to help her manage her pain and ensure she gets the care she needs.
