Cause Description:
The Detroit College Promise is an incentive program whose objective is to strengthen the Detroit Public Schools by (a) incentivizing DPS parents and students to plan for a college education and (b) encouraging parents with college aspirations for their children to move into Detroit and the Detroit Public Schools. The Detroit College Promise is based on the Kalamazoo Promise, which has led to increased public school enrollment, and increases in test scores, graduation rates and college attendance. It also created a profound sense of excitement about living in the city that continues even 6 years after its announcement.
