Leukemia and Lymphoma Society | SF Bay Chapter

Kevin Owens. Lavaman 12 Participant to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leukemia is the number one disease-killer of children under 15 and lymphoma is the leading killer of men and women under 35. Every five minutes someone in the United States learns that they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. As the largest endurance training program in the U.S., Team In Training provides its participants with coaching and training expertise in exchange for raising money towards finding a cure for leukemia and lymphoma. As part of Team in Training, I will be competing in an Olympic distance Triathlon on April 1st, in Kona, Hawaii. The race consists of swimming 1.2 miles in the Pacific Ocean, biking 25 miles on the same route the Ironman races use and finally finishing with a 6 mile run – some of it across lava fields. I’ve committed to my fourth season with L&LS and Team in Training. I have 2 goals; raise more than $10,000 for L&LS, and complete the race in less than 3 hours. The fund raising goal is most important.
