Cause Description:
We are a relatively new Community Development Financial Institution intent upon serving poor people in 52 PA Appalachian Counties by helping them start up small businesses or become self employed entrepreneurs. We loan them money and give them lots of technical assistance before we do to make sure they will get the results they want with those hard to come by dollars.. We would welcome support through your organization of gifts (technical assistance and support from professionals whose skills could help our people out) and dollars. As important as gifts for us right now are matching dollars. The Appalachian Regional Commission has given us $84,000 for a loan fund and we are trying hard to match that with loans from others. Patient investors with some money to put into a revolving loan fund or donors with a willingness to help us plant seeds for self sustaining community development would be welcome.
