Cause Description:
(un)apologetic productions is an ensemble of artists, actors, directors, playwrights, visual- artists, and musicians--devoted to making a positive change in the world through artistic expression, specifically, the theatre arts. We are named by two principles: We create and present our art without apology as to subject matter, content, and vision. We are, however, apologetic in the sense that we each recognize and accept our own responsibility to humanity and the work that is required by us to make a positive impact on the world. The mission of (un)apologetic productions is to infuse the artistically and economically under-served regions of Western Pennsylvania with thought-provoking culture by: Presenting professional, high-quality, challenging, and pertinent theatrical performances Offering theatre and arts oriented education Spreading the concept of art as service through the marriage of arts with the missions of other, more tangible service organizations Advancing the activist perspective that the arts are a necessary element of an ethical, positively energized, and economically stable modern society Since its founding in 2009, (un)apologetic productions has produced a number of classical and contemporary theatrical performances as well as TheatreMatters, a series of integrated educational seminars and community outreach programs in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The company has worked in conjunction with the Keystone Chapter of the American Red Cross, St. Vincent DePaul's Food for Families program, the Moxham Renaissance, the Bottleworks Ethnic Arts Center, and the Venue of Merging Arts. (un)apologetic productions is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt, public charity incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania.
