Camp Shining Stars exists to provide a healthful, active, secure and enjoyable environment for pre-teen and adolescent children to build and maintain an improved physical and emotional lifestyle on a foundation of positive self-image and self-worth, aspects of life essential to the development of lasting healthy relationships with family, friends, and community. Camp Shining Stars will always be motivated by the principle that all children have inherent qualities of importance, beauty, and the capacity to enrich and be enriched by the world in which they live, regardless of race, sex, ethnic heritage, or socio- economic class. Camp Shining Stars will continue to be motivated by the belief that adults have a moral obligation to secure and promote the welfare and healthy development of children and to provide an environment of acceptance, affection, discipline and guidance as healthy role models by which children might set their life compasses as they strive to overcome life’s challenges and achieve the goals they set for themselves. Camp Shining Stars will always accept the challenge to continue as the leader on the frontier of healthy lifestyle camping by combining the highest aspects of education, research and practical applications of the health sciences with camaraderie, community and wholesome, all-out fun.
