Planned Parenthood of Kentucky (PPKY) was formed on January 1, 2008 with the merger of Planned Parenthood of the Bluegrass (est. 1936) and Planned Parenthood of Louisville (est. 1933). This represents nearly 150 years of combined service to the women, men, and teens of the Commonwealth. PPKY continues this well-established tradition of providing confidential reproductive health care and comprehensive sexuality education. By offering prevention services such as contraception and cancer screenings, PPKY works to prevent unintended pregnancies and disease. PPKY is a not-for-profit organization that operates four health centers and clinics through the support of Title X Funds, private donations, patient payments, and insurance reimbursements. Planned Parenthood of Kentucky is an affiliate of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. PPFA, headquartered in New York, is the umbrella organization for 107 local affiliates, providing leadership at the national level for reproductive health care issues.
