Cause Description:
The St. Bernard Project is a nonprofit disaster rebuilding organization serving residents in St. Bernard and Orleans parishes. Embracing an “all-under-one-roof” model, SBP's mission is to remove the physical, mental, and emotional barriers for vulnerable families, senior citizens and disabled residents who are struggling to recover from the devastation and trauma caused by Hurricane Katrina and, more recently, the oil spill. To accomplish these goals SBP works through four primary programs: Rebuilding Program, Center for Wellness and Mental Health (CWMH), Good Work Good Pay and Opportunity Housing Program Since it’s founding in 2006, SBP has rebuilt 320 homes with help from over 26,000 volunteers, created jobs for local residents, and provided free evidenced-based mental health services to over 340 individuals.
