Cause Description:
Established in 1913 as the Grand Rapids Association for the Blind and for Sight Conservation, ABVI now serves 13 Michigan counties. ABVI's mission is to advance the independence of people who are visually impaired and to promote the prevention of blindness. Programs include: low vision clinic, orientation & mobility training, in-home training in personal home management, communications and other daily living skills, large print and Braille transcription, community education and targeted outreach, introduction and instruction on use of magnifiers and telescopic devices as well as adaptive aids and appliances for people who are blind & visually impaired.
