Cause Description:
Good Samaritan Rescue Mission is the largest shelter for the homeless in this region of the state. We were established in 1953 as a faith based non-denominational 501(C)(3) tax-exempt non-profit corporation dedicated to providing food, shelter, clothing, employment, spiritual counseling, and supportive services to the homeless population of our area. We choose to receive no federal, state, or local government funds because we do not want a person coming in from the street to have to qualify for a particular "program" in order to get a bed. By refusing these funds, we are able to offer our services to every single person coming through our doors. We operate solely on monetary and material donations from churches, businesses, private citizens, and private foundation gifts.
