Birmingham, Alabama

Cause Description:
Mission Statement Our Mission is: To bring about cooperation among ministries for the purpose of more effectively spreading the message of God's saving grace to those affected by crime. The central goal of our mission is to provide services necessary to assist ex-offenders to best gain and retain employment opportunities. Included in these services (whether provided directly or through partnerships) are mentoring, educational and vocational training, life skills programming, housing, and continued substance abuse treatment. AJMN was founded in July 2001 and has established itself primarily with the Alabama state prisons and metro Birmingham jails. We partner with over 80 local churches with over 400 volunteers, Prison Fellowship, Winner's Circle, Volunteers of America, Inc., TASC, various transition homes, rehabilitation programs, prison and jail ministries and victim's assistance programs throughout the state. We're members of the Non-Profit Resource Center (NPRC) and the Coalition of Prison Evangelists (COPE). We also have won an award with FASTEN. (FASTEN actively identifies best practices in faith-based services). AJMN administers the Jefferson County Jail Ministry, the Jefferson County Community Partnership for Recovery and Reentry Network and the Robert E. Doyle: Mentoring Birmingham Program.
