Cause Description:
The NWAC Intel Computer Clubhouse is a positive afterschool program for youth ages 10 - 18. We provide access to science, engineering and technology. We work with youth to help them acquiring knowledge of software via creating text, graphics, audio, video, animation and robotic projects. They are encouraged to explore the use of various hardware devices and software applications, including digital cameras, hd video cameras, web cams, microscopes, and software by Microsoft, Adobe, Corel, and others. The Computer Clubhouse is an awesome place to play and learn! We are part of the Intel Computer Clubhouse Network. A coalition of around 100 computer clubhouses located throughout the US and in over 20 other countries. The mission is to provides a creative and safe out-of-school learning environment where young people from underserved communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The NWAC Intel Computer Clubhouse is located in Detroit, Michigan and seeks adults who want to mentor youth in learning about technology and its applications in the "real world".
