Cause Description:
Altrusa of Montrose CO provides community service, enhances leadership and personal development, and encourages fellowship. We provide grants to non-profit groups primarily serving Montrose county, provide scholarships, and have numerous service projects. Examples: install Lifeline units in homes of local seniors, sponsor & organize a high school volunteer service club (ASTRA), provide children’s books to social service organizations & books for adult literacy programs, bring programs promoting childhood literacy to area schools, sponsor local environmental awareness programs, provide stuffed animals for children admitted to the ER or having surgery, provide DVD players for patients undergoing chemotherapy at our local cancer center, co-sponsor events at local libraries to raise awareness of literacy and health issues in other parts of the world.
