Cause Description:
CVNC provides essential services to performing artists and their communities at a time when the print media has curtailed their coverage of these important aspects of the cultural life of our area. These communities consist of residents and travelers who wish to know more about the vast array of classical music, opera, dance, theatre, world music, and jazz throughout the state. As these arts enthusiasts turn more and more to the internet for information, we remain convinced that our journal, and others like ours, is the best way for these patrons to learn about regional performing artists, ensembles, and organizations. Our work informs our website visitors of upcoming events and documents the work of vibrant cultural communities throughout the state. Due to the diminution of coverage elsewhere and the challenges many groups have in getting coverage, CVNC increasingly has become the destination for arts consumers and for the many performing artists that are seeking effective and efficient ways to get the word out about their events.
