The Purpose of the GVPL is to serve all the people in the area as an institution of education for democratic living. The primary purpose of the library is to meet the educational, cultural, informational, and recreational needs of the area it serves. The GVPL provides free services to all individuals including those residing outside its legal service area, both children an dadults, its major concern being a contribution toward the removal of ignorance.
