Cause Description:
Mission: Oakland Food Connection promotes nutritional awareness, access to healthy foods and the connections between people and our planet. Goals: 1. Expand access to nutrition education resources among Oakland's residents through establishing urban gardening programs and educational courses that emphasizes agriculture and urban/rural sustainable food system projects throughout the world. 2. Stimulate interest in food and health- related careers such as farming, nutrition education, and food production and distribution among youth and adults. 3. Create a stronger food network of support in Oakland through community gatherings that improve the quality of life for all of Oakland's residents. Cultural gatherings, for example, such as food parties and fun(d)raisers create a safe space for community members to come together for inspirational ideas about growing and sustaining healthy food systems in Oakland and beyond.
