Cause Description:
Feel the Music! brings music and inspiration to children, families and adults impacted by trauma, loss or illness. We partner with local communities to bring the highest quality music instruction and performance experience to people who are often isolated by circumstance, with limited access to the joys and benefits of music. A 501c3 nonprofit organization, Feel the Music! offers music and art programs for children, youth and adults, concerts, recording opportunities, music mentoring, teacher training programs, an online resource guide and opportunities for international exchange. Founded in 2005, Feel the Music! grew out of our executive director's 9/11 volunteer work. Through relationships she developed with 9/11 organizations and their founders, Feel the Music! was able to reach hundreds of impacted families, many of whom we continue to serve today. We expanded to serve a wide network of partner organizations such as the hospital-based program Sibs Place; the teen program Safe Space; the international Project Common Bond (serving teens from around the globe who lost a family member from terrorism); NYC public schools and are currently outreaching to military families.
