Cause Description:
Volunteers of America is a national, nonprofit, spiritually based organization providing local human service programs and creating pportunities for individual and community involvement. CAMP HOPE is service of Volunteers of America for young children impacted by parental substance abuse and is funded solely by donations. Camp Hope provides a unique opportunity for children ages 7-11 to begin to make some sense of their parent(s)’ disease in a safe, fun environment. Campers explore some of the issues and feelings involved in living with substance abuse, how it relates to them, and learn healthy life skills for themselves while participating in traditional activities normally associated with summer camp. For one week, they get to let go of the heavy burdens of home and just be kids!
