Welleseley Choral Society

Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts

Cause Description:
The Wellesley Choral Society was founded in 1947 after several choruses in the town of Wellesley joined forces for a holiday festival, and the Wellesley Community Chorus, as it was called until 1966, was born. The first conductor of the Chorus was Amy Young Burns. Currently the Society has 55 members. Our purpose remains the same: to study and perform the world's great choral music, both sacred and secular. Edward Whalen became the society's tenth Music Director 1994. Pianist Hisako Hiratsuka joined the society as a singer in 1990 and has been our accompanist since 1993. Generally, the Society rehearses in the Wakelin Room at the Wellesley Free Library, 530 Washington Street, on Monday Evenings from 7:30 to 9:30, from September through May (see full rehearsal schedule). New singers of high school age and older are always welcome, with a special invitation to tenors and basses. Feel free to contact us for more information, or come to a rehearsal. We hope you can join us!
