Cause Description:
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. In the Spring of 2006 with the help of friends, family and business associates, The Irving family raised $35,000 for the LLS. At the family's request, 100% of that money helped fund a grant awarded to Dr. John Timmerman of UCLA by the LLS. In 2007, after extensive interviews with doctors, researchers and administrators at the LLS, the Irving family established the Irving Fund for Research at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a donation of over $20,000 in order to guarantee that all funds raised will be directed to scientific research. Each year the Irving family will make the initial donation of $20,000 which guarantees that all subsequent funds continue to directly benefit scientists and researchers working to cure blood cancer.
