Foodchain's philosophy is that no food should go to waste when people are hungry. Foodchain is a network of more than 150 community based, hunger-relief programs that rescue surplus food from restaurants, caterers, cafeterias, grocery stores, and other food businesses. This is safe, nutritious food that would otherwise be headed for dumpsters and landfills. The rescued food is delivered to more than 15,000 social service agnecies providing meal programs or food asistance to the poor. In 1998 our programs rescued more than 200 million pounds of food that became more than 150 million meals for those in need. Foodchain is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our Federal ID # is #58-1992066.
