Cause Description:
Elizabeth Thumann was paralyzed in 2005 when the car she was driving was rear-ended. She was diagnosed as a paraplegic and was told she would never walk again. One year later, Elizabeth began working with the trainers at Project Walk in Carlsbad, California. Project Walk is an exercise based program to treat spinal cord injuries and offers its clients the highest level of recovery possible. Since beginning with Project Walk, Elizabeth has experienced returned movement in her legs, back and trunk. She hopes to be able to walk someday and her trainers are enthusiastic about her recovery. However, Elizabeth needs continued therapy and it is not covered by insurance. Donations made to NTAF for Elizabeth cover the transportation, housing and therapy costs of each treatment session. Each treatment session is a week long and costs roughly $2000. Donations made through NTAF are tax deductible.
