"Strengthening families, uniting communities, and cultivating youth to become leaders of the future." SNAP believes that knowledgeable and motivated young people are more likely to delay sexual activity, make informed choices, protect their health and avoid unplanned pregnancy. SNAP is committed to the development of youth toward responsibility and productive adulthood, particularly with regard to their understanding of human sexuality, their responsibility for their own sexual behavior, and their respect for the dignity and needs of others. SNAP works in partnership with the community to provide educational, medical and social supports: to help youth deal with societal pressures surrounding sexuality; to advocate for confidential medical care and objective counseling for sexually active youth, and to help parenting adolescents towards self-sufficiency and responsible behavior. SNAP strives to fulfill its mission through the provision of community education, technical assistance, and referral services, and through the coordination of a network of public and private educational, health, human service and family agencies. SNAP also seeks to inform and influence public policy makers and the community about the complex problems of adolescent sexual behavior in order to create a climate in which appropriate solutions can be found.
