Cause Description:
The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle rescues surpluses of prepared and perishable food daily from a variety of donors(restaurants, grocery stores, food service vendors, etc.) and distributes it to organizations that serve people in need. The Food Shuttle focuses on providing protein-rich entrees, fresh fruits and vegetables, items too expensive for community agencies to purchase, to the Triangle's needy. Typically, the majority of the food collected is consumed within one to twenty-four hours after it is picked up. Without the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, most of this food would go to the Triangle's Landfills rather than to the Triangle's Residents
