Cause Description:
The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band is a nationally recognized marching band consisting of 104 musicians, 25 color guard performers, and one drum major. It is the largest program at the high school. The Band Director is Peter Horton and the Assistant Band Directors are Tom Whitmoyer and Carman Dragone. Notably, the band has marched in: 2006 and 2002 Citrus Bowl Parade 2006 Eastern States Exposition (“Big E”) 2004 Hollywood Christmas Parade George W. Bush’s 2001 Presidential Inauguration Parade (Connecticut representatives; one of 14 bands nationally selected) In the past the band has also marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade. The band marches annually community parades hosted by Bridgeport, Stamford, Trumbull, Derby, and Shelton (all in Connecticut) and Wildwood, New Jersey. In addition to performing at such events, the band competes regionally against other high school marching bands. Here are some of our recent awards: 2008 Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Class V – Second Place (Class V is the highest class of competition) (Outstanding: Marching, Color Guard, Percussion, Drum Major) 2007 MAC Class V – First Place (Outstanding: General Effect, Marching, Color Guard, Percussion, Drum Major) 2007 MAC State Champions 2006 MAC Class V – First Place (Outstanding: Music, General Effect, Color Guard, Percussion) 2006 MAC State Champions 2005 MAC Class V - Second Place (Outstanding Percussion) 2004 MAC Class V - Third Place (Outstanding Guard) 2003 MAC Class IV Champion (Outstanding Color Guard, Marching, General Effect, Drum Major and Music) Bands of America - Regional Finalist 2002 MAC Class IV Second Place (Outstanding Color Guard, Marching) 2002 United States Scholastic Bands Association Class IV Open Fourth Place (Best Guard) 2002 Bands of America - Regional Finalist Our fund raising efforts, help in the overall program, equipment, travel and ongoing improvements.
