Cause Description:
The Phoenix Center is a New Jersey Department of Education approved non-profit not-for-profit private school for students aged 5-21 with autism and multiple disabilities. The Phoenix Center’s purpose is to provide a well integrated, educational and therapeutic program focusing on the development of the whole child and his/her family. It creates customized, unique and individualized programs for students who do not “fit” in other special education settings. The reason the Phoenix Center exists is to care for, educate and empower its students and graduates so that they may develop skills which will maximize their adaptation to everyday life. The Phoenix Center operates on the philosophy that all of its students have abilities and disabilities and the focus will be on their abilities rather than their disabilities. Overall, the Phoenix Center serves students from 64 towns in eight New Jersey counties (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and Union.)
