Cause Description:
MSV is an organization dedicated to ending violence against women. Our focus is to stop battering, and it is our intention to work toward ending rape and incest. As we work to help men change their abusive behavior, we recognize that individual change is dependent upon changing social systems which support the private and institutional oppression of women. We believe that groups of men can work together to change patriarchal values and belief systems that oppress women and children and dehumanize men themselves. In this struggle, we look to the battered women's movement to keep the reality of the problem and the vision of the solution before us. Our work must support their work. Believing that all forms of oppression reinforce one another, we also seek to confront other power hierarchies which are based on race, class, or sexual orientation.
