Sierra Leone in West Africa is among the poorest countries in the world and faces dire public health issues. Over one quarter of children born in Sierra Leone do not live to see their fifth birthday. The IDEA Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping Sierra Leone. Current programs include: 1) nursing education at universities in Sierra Leone; 2) a low-cost, primary health clinic in Freetown; 3) literacy and vocational education for adults; and 4) a collaboarative project with Heifer international.
