ClearWater Initiative is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing clean water to populations affected by natural or man-made humanitarian emergencies. ClearWater was founded in 2007 by an American soldier deployed to Northern Uganda in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Refugees and internally displaced civilians were slowly returning to their homes after 20 years of civil war, but many were hindered by a lack of access to clean water. Others were moving home and forced to drink from contaminated water sources. Working closely with friends and family, ClearWater was founded to address this very specific need.
