Cause Description:
Adopt A Stray is an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in South Florida, founded by a small group of experienced volunteers. Since we do not yet have a shelter we operate as a foster care program, working to deal with the stray overpopulation by taking unwanted and unloved dogs and cats off the streets. Our foster homes provide temporary safe refuge until they are placed in a permanent loving home. Adopt A Stray relies exclusively on private donations to provide food and medical care, including the spay/neuter of adoptable pets and feral cats. There are no administration fees or professional fund-raisers to pay. 100% of all donations go directly to the care of our animals. All Adopt A Stray animals are spayed/neutered, treated for worms, fleas and other parasites. The cats and kittens are tested for FIV and FeLV and are vaccinated. The dogs are tested for heartworm (over 5 months) and vaccinated. The unadoptable cats (feral) are TNR (trapped, neutered and released).
