Cause Description:
As educators, Speak Up for Horses teaches our community all about horses and the respect and responsibility that goes along with horse ownership. Most people love horses but few are aware of the realities of horse welfare. Speak Up is working to broaden public awareness. As rescuers, we believe that a hugh part of speaking up for horses means providing an avenue for rescue and intervention for horses in neglect and abuse cases. We are developing an Equine Education Facility open to individuals and groups who want to learn and interact with horses. We are building a love of horses in children by providing horse related books to both school and public libraries as part of our "Saddle Up For Storytime" campaign. We are initiating a much needed equine training program for law enforcement and animal control officers aimed at recognizing symptoms of abuse and neglect. This job is an important one, as humane enforcement officials are often the "last line of defense" for horses in crisis. Please visit us at www.speakupforhorses.org
