Cause Description:
Northeast Emergency Food Program, a community ministry of the Ecumenical Ministry of Oregon, provides emergency food boxes to families in crisis. In 2006 NEFP helped 17,540 people with 3 to 5 days of emergency food on a budget of $85,000. NEFP is mostly volunteer run (1.1 FTE)and operates with individual donations are the vast majority of the funding. NEFP is located in Northeast Portland and serves any family in crisis regards of race, religion, sexual orientation, economic status, gender, ethnicity, geographic location, etc. We just give folk in need a box of groceries 3 times every 6 months if they come to us for help.
